Smith & Wesson has introduced the Equalizer, a new micro-compact 9mm handgun that S&W believes represents the next evolution in their concealed carry handguns. Smith & Wesson cited ease-of-use, low recoil and comfortable everyday carry as the main development focuses behind the Equalizer.
The Equalizer has 10, 13 and 15-round magazines available on launch, with the 13 and 15-round options extending the grip. The slide features a new optic cut pattern that allows for the mounting of most micro red dots available. Additionally, the slide features S&W’s easy-to-rack system, lightening the effort needed to chamber a round. A 3.675-inch barrel provides a longer sight radius compared to other micro-compact handguns, meaning iron sights are still a viable option. A picatinny-style rail facilitates the mounting of lights or lasers as well. A new grip texture, developed for the Equalizer, is designed to further heighten control without being abrasive while carrying.
