Police and fire departments have expressed their gratitude to SIG Sauer for the company’s efforts to support first responders and healthcare workers by reallocating and donating their supply of personal protective equipment (PPE). Long-time supporters of frontline professionals, SIG Sauer quickly took action as COVID-19 became pandemic.
After prioritizing the health and safety of SIG Sauer’s employees, the company turned its efforts to providing PPE to help meet the nationwide shortage. SIG Sauer was named an “essential business” for its advanced engineering and capabilities to support the defense of America. These capabilities are the same used to manufacture small arms currently issued to the U.S. military and defense products in popular use among America’s law enforcement and law-abiding citizens.
As of this writing, SIG Sauer has provided more than 13,000 KN95 masks to 51 police and 20 fire departments in the states of New Hampshire and Massachusetts, near SIG Sauer headquarters, as well as to departments in Arkansas where SIG Sauer’s ammunition plant is located. Additionally, SIG Sauer’s Electro-Optics division in Oregon has been 3D printing plastic face shields to donate to Medical Teams International who outfits doctors and nurses on mobile COVID-19 testing vans in the greater metro area of Portland, Oregon. SIG Sauer will also be donating these face shields to local healthcare workers and hospitals in Oregon, Arkansas and New Hampshire in the coming weeks.
“As a manufacturing company that was designated by Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security and the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), as essential to the defense of America, once we had put massive safety measures in place to protect our employees, we felt it was critical for SIG Sauer to support those who support us on the front lines keeping us safe everyday,” said Ron Cohen, Chief Executive Officer of SIG Sauer.
