Savage Arms Introduces New KLYM Series 110 and Impulse Rifles

On a foggy morning on the coast of New Zealand’s South Island I sat down with Savage’s vice president of sales Rob Gates to take a closer look at a brand-new rifle the company was planning to unveil in late 2023. Known as the Impulse KLYM, this rifle utilized the revolutionary straight-pull action that Savage incorporated into their other Impulse rifles and paired it with a Proof Research carbon fiber-wrapped barrel and an FBT carbon fiber thumbhole stock. The Impulse is one of two new KLYM series guns available from Savage, the other being the 110 KLYM which includes Savage’s updated 110 blueprinted action, mated with the same Proof Research barrel and FBT stock found on the Impulse version. These guns include everything serious hunters expect from Savage like the safe, reliable AccuTrigger (user adjustable 1.5 to 4 pounds), Omniport muzzle brake, 20 MOA rail, an adjustable stock, and outstanding accuracy. The only thing these guns seem to be missing is weight: the Impulse KLYM weighs under seven pounds while the bolt-action 110 KLYM weighs just under six pounds. Not surprisingly, the test rifle grouped well under 1-inch at 100 yards and was very comfortable to shoot thanks to the Omniport brake and the stock geometry. The KLYM series is further proof that Savage’s premium hunting rifles offer features and performance equal to the top guns on the market.
