Optic-Ready Revolvers: Taurus 856 T.O.R.O .38 Spl. & 605 T.O.R.O. .357 Mag.

Taurus has announced the 856 T.O.R.O and 605 T.O.R.O., small-frame optic-ready revolvers, chambered in .38 Special and .357 Magnum, respectively. Here's a first look.

Taurus has introduced two new optics-ready, small-frame revolvers in the Taurus 856 T.O.R.O and Taurus 605 T.O.R.O., which the company notes are the first of their kind. They are probably right, at least in the realm of factory-built, mass production offerings.

It's fair to say that on the heels of successful GX4, TX 22 and Executive Grade launches, Taurus is developing some hard won swagger. From the latest press release, "Some companies talk about how 'innovative' they are. We didn't talk. We just did it." Yeah you did. These optic-ready concealed carry revolvers are just the latest proof.

The Taurus 856 T.O.R.O and 605 T.O.R.O were developed based on customer feedback, with both revolvers intended to easily accept red-dot optics while remaining compact for discreet defensive carry. Both revolvers are milled at the factory to accept an optics plate and micro red dots based on the Holosun K footprint.

Both the 856 and 605 T.O.R.O. are based on the popular Defender series of firearms from Taurus. These revolvers feature all steel construction, 3-inch barrels, and a replaceable front sight. The wheel guns use Taurus’ double-action/single-action trigger, characterized by a heavier but relatively smooth double-action pull. The guns can also be manually cocked and fired with a lighter single-action trigger press.

The revolvers will have MSRPs that range from under $450 to $470 depending on whether customers select the 6-shot .38 Special 856, or the 5-shot .357 Magnum 605 in black or stainless. For more information on both the 856 T.O.R.O and 605 T.O.R.O., visit Taurususa.com.
