The Best Bedside Gun Safes at Every Price Point

The Best Bedside Gun Safes at Every Price Point

However, we need to take steps to ensure that our guns don't end up in the wrong hands. Whether the wrong hands are those of a hardened criminal or a small child, it's our responsibility to make sure our firearms are readily available when needed and secured when they're not. A popular option that balances these needs is a bedside gun safe.

In today's market, there are plenty of options when it comes to quickly accessible safes. Many offer multiple means of unlocking, whether it be through biometric scanners, combination locks, digital keypads or radio frequency identification (RFID) bracelets, cards or key fobs. No matter your budget, these great bedside gun safes will help keep your firearms out of the wrong hands but still accessible to yours.

9G Inprint Biometric Pistol Safe

This biometric safe can store up to 15 different fingerprints and boasts a false acceptance rate of just 1 in 100,000, putting it far ahead of some of its competitors. The spring-loaded door provides reliably quick access, and the unit can run off of a 9V battery or the included AC adapter. What sets this safe apart from many of its competitors is its burl wood finish, allowing it to look at home sitting on a nightstand, unlike many of the black plastic or steel finishes on other models.

Fort Knox Personal Pistol Box

If you're reading this article and wondering why all these safes need backup batteries, AC adapters and multiple means of entry, then the Fort Knox Personal Pistol Box is the safe for you. Unlike other safes, this one relies solely on a mechanical lock. This means no worrying about electronics. Constructed from heavy duty 10-gauge steel and available in multiple sizes, this unit offers a simpler method of securing firearms. It is also backed by Fort Knox's Lifetime Warranty.

Price: $239

Fortress Home Security Safe

In addition to the standard multiple means of entry (magnetic card, pin number, and override key), the Fortress Home Security Safe features both internal LED lighting and a programmable alarm. This pistol safe additionally comes with a cable lock for extra security.

Price: $129

GunVault Nano Vault

Although marketed for people looking to securely store their firearm in a portable package, the GunVault NanoVault is also a great economical nightstand safe. Three models are available, two of which are basic lock and key, while the third uses a 3-digit combination lock for keyless entry. While not as robust as some of the other options, this unit will secure your firearms until you can purchase a more advanced safe.

Price: $20/$35

GunVault Speed Vault

This heavy duty 18-gauge steel wall or furniture mount safe offers the owner rapid access to their firearm in an emergency. Once the safe is unlocked, the GunVault Speed Vault drops open giving you immediate access to your firearm. All mounting hardware is included, and means of entry include a keypad and backup key.

Price: $135

Hornady RAPiD Safe

This innovative bedside safe offers users multiple ways to quickly access their firearms while keeping intruders locked out. The RAPiD safe has the standard keypad code and traditional keys but also features an RFID bracelet, card and key fob for entry. This allows the key to be either always on your person or stored near the safe without an intruder actually knowing that it is the key. The user can also plug the unit directly into an outlet or use batteries for power.

Price: $250

Liberty Home Safe

If you have room for it, this safe will more than do the job. Unlike traditional bedside safes, the Liberty Home Safe also gives you 60 minutes of fire protection at 1,200 degrees. It uses an electronic keypad and comes in two models. The smaller model weighs 255 lbs. and is 25-inches tall, while the larger is 38-inches tall and weighs 365 lbs.

Price: $600/$700

Stack-On Quick-Access Personal Safe

The Stack-On Quick Access Personal Safe will store standard sized handguns and allows for a three to eight digit combination, with a backup 'trouble key. ' A nice feature included in this model is that it comes ready to mount to a shelf, floor or other horizontal surface of your choosing. All fastening hardware is included, and holes are predrilled in the bottom of the safe.

Price: $89

Tactical Walls

A wall safe such as this one is a great option for people who are space conscious. The safe is designed to fit directly into your wall and provide the owner with the maximum in space and concealment. To open, the user simply swipes a magnetic card on a designated place on what appears to be a wall mirror. The unit will then click unlocked and be able to be opened. Tactical Walls offers a variety of options for wood finishes.
