Although the term “airsoft” is synonymous with fun and safe training, and even used by instructors to teach force-on-force, the platforms used can improve the real-world simulation as stand-ins for lethal firearms. Case in point: Umarex offers a selection of licensed Airsoft replicas that mimic the look, feel and operation of many popular guns, including the Glock 17 pistol, as well as the HK 416 rifle.
