The Savage Arms Updated Fox A Grade Shotgun

OSG’s Lynn Burkhead talks with Jared Hinton of Savage Arms as they harken back to yesteryear when Ansley H. Fox made the Fox side-by-side shotgun, a gun he described as the finest in the world. The updated Fox A Grade shotgun from Savage Arms features a true color-case hardened receiver finish on a spectacular walnut stock and forend that comes complete with hand checkering. With double gold-plated triggers and 12-gauge and 20-gauge options that come in both 26 and 28-inch barrels, this new version of a classic American side-by-side is a winner that checks in with a doable price tag.

A guide on how to pair .223 and 5.56 NATO rifle barrel twist rates with bullet weights. Conventional wisdom says slower twist rates wouldn't properly-stabilize a heavy bullet. On the other hand, faster rates could over-stabilize lighter bullets. This is correct in theory, however, modern ballisticians have all but debunked the over-stabilization theory. All things being equal, it is better to have too much twist than not enough.Pairing Barrel Twist Rates with Bullets for .223 and 5.56 NATO How-To
