The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF ), the firearm industry trade association, reports that last week, the U.S. House Judiciary Committee advanced flawed legislation that would ban the sale of commonly owned rifles, shotguns, handguns and standard capacity magazines. In addition, the committee also approved legislation to repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) and to put law enforcement in danger by allowing the public release of sensitive law enforcement data on crime firearms.
Both bills could be voted on by the full House of Representatives this week!
It is unclear if U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi has the votes needed to pass the bills at this moment, so it is critical that you call your U.S. Representative TODAY and urge a “NO” vote on H.R. 1808, the so-called “Assault Weapons Ban” of 2022, and H.R. 2814, the so-called “Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act.”
