First Look: Real Avid Gun Tool CORE – AR15

Real Avid has introduced the Gun Tool CORE – AR15, one of the newest additions to Real Avid's growing line of Gun Multi-tools.

First Look: Real Avid Gun Tool CORE – AR15

Designed to be streamlined, but big on solving the most commonly encountered problems, the Gun Tool CORE – AR15’s whole mission is to “Keep It Ready.”

As the name implies, Gun Tool CORE – AR15 is all about core AR15 function and being a multi-tool, it equips the owner to handle a wide array of possible tasks without having to carry around bulky tools. Gun Multi-tools from Real Avid are focused on guns, that’s it. These specialized tools aren’t for plumbers, handymen, electricians, homeowners, farmers or even boy scouts…. unless they’re gun owners.

Gun Tool CORE – AR15 empowers users to keep their AR15’s up and running in the field or at the range. It is focused on solving the most important problems that a shooter might encounter in order to keep their gun fully functional. While it works perfectly fine on a gun bench, Gun Tool CORE’s purpose is to solve problems wherever the owner uses their gun. Easy to carry with carabiner like modularity it easily secures to MOLLE straps or a belt. Gun Tool CORE is a must have carry tool for serious shooters.

Howard Tripp, Chief Innovation Officer said, “We designed The Gun Tool CORE-AR15 to be the ideal tool for performing the most critical ‘keep shooting’ tasks on your AR15 without being bulky. This a compact but hard-core tool. We’ve all had “Oh Crap’ moments that end a day at the range. Many of us own AR15’s because of how much fun they are to shoot, or because we want to be armed and ready for bad situations that come our way un-invited. Regardless of why someone owns an AR15, they want it to function every time they need to shoot. Gun Tool CORE is for that gun owner.”

The Gun Tool CORE – AR15 has a unique, but very practical design. It packs six different tools into a folding metal frame. Simply put it is hard-core. The rugged cast and machined metal tool frame is engineered to provide exceptional strength, but in a form factor that fits in the palm of your hand. All six tools tuck into the frame and when folded out, lock in place. The front site adjuster and take-down pin punch are cleverly designed as a folding assembly. The take-down punch is the anchor for the folding and locking assembly. The front sight tool fits over the take down punch and attaches to the threaded base of the punch. The entire assembly seamlessly folds into the tool frame and provides carabiner like function to be able to hang the tool from a belt loop or MOLLE strap without drawing attention. The heart and soul of Gun Tool CORE are 2 different carbon scrapers that effectively remove burnt carbon from 12 different bolt carrier group surfaces. Each scraper precisely fits every mil-spec dimension of the bolt carrier group surfaces including firing pin, bolt face, bolt waist, bolt lugs, boat tail and inside the bolt carrier itself.

Dave Steiner, Real Avid president commented, “While Gun Tool CORE – AR15 is compact, make no mistake it is highly capable. With it, a user can quickly remove carbon from every surface of a sticky bolt and bolt carrier, clear “brass over bolt” jams, punch out stubborn takedown pins or make on-the-fly optics and front-sight adjustments. We designed it to be streamlined, but big on solving the most commonly encountered problems. Its whole mission is to ‘Keep It Ready’.”
