First Look: POF-USA ReVolt Bolt-Action Rifle

pof-usa-revolt_rifle_straight_pull_bolt_action_6Continuing with their American Revolution in innovation, Patriot Ordnance Factory (POF-USA) introduces the ReVolt bolt-action rifle.

While it may not look like a traditional bolt-action rifle, that's because it's not your grandfather's bolt gun. The ReVolt's straight-pull design is contained within a familiar magazine-fed AR-style platform, yet offers the accuracy of a bolt-action with its completely free-floating 18.5-inch barrel. Aside from initial accuracy reports  —  which are measuring .5 MOA or less — this rifle is legal in all 50 states because it must be manually cycled after each shot.

Upper components of the ReVolt rifle system are specially engineered to enable a short, quick bolt throw for fast follow-up shots. The rifle also features POF-USA's patented E² extraction technology, where four channels along the neck of the chamber allow gas pressure to flow backwards and push on the shoulders of the spent casing. This technology, paired with the ReVolt action improves extractor life by over 5-times that of a standard extractor.

POF's ReVolt also features a 14.5-inch M-rail handguard that has a slick top without Picatinny rails. Its lack of top rails gives users the ability to add magnified optics with a larger objective tube in concert with shorter scope rings. An optional top rail can be retrofitted to the forend as desired.

Lower receiver components include a POF Enhanced Finger Placement (EFP) trigger, a Luth-AR MBA-1 stock and a Magpul MOE pistol Grip. It also features fully ambidextrous controls and anti-rotational trigger pins.

The ReVolt is being manufactured as a stand-alone rifle system, but it can also be converted into a traditional semiautomatic rifle.

POF-USA's new ReVolt rifle will be available in four weeks or less, at an estimated price of $2,229 for the complete .223 Rem./5.56mm rifle and $2,949 for the complete .308 Win./7.62mm rifle. Complete 5.56 uppers will be available for $1,399 with a 10-round mag and capture pin. No complete .308 upper is available because it would only fit on POF-USA lowers.
