CZ-USA has announced the new CZ Scorpion 3+ Micro pistol, which will be the first entry in a new family of Scorpions.

The Scorpion 3+ is an evolution of the successful and popular Scorpion EVO 3 line. According to CZ, the Scorpion 3+ not only improves the ergonomics and controls of the EVO 3, but also incorporates advanced lightweight materials into the pistol.

The Scorpion 3+ boasts a variety of ambidextrous features, including the safety and new AR-style mag release – now accessible on both sides of the gun. CZ has improved the grip design of the EVO 3 for a more comfortable shooting experience – namely, lowering the hand away from the safety selector – and has changed the M-LOK handguard from aluminum to polymer construction in order to reduce heat transfer. The first of the line, the Scorpion 3+ Micro features a 4.2-inch barrel threaded 1/2x28 and comes with a removable flash can.

Adding to the list of redesigns, the 3+ models have a slimmed-down upper receiver that accommodates more options for attaching stocks, braces or slings that replace the end cap. The magwell has also been resized to add more grip area on the handguard for larger or gloved hands, and a recessed texture is now present on the magazine for better purchase during reloads. The new magazine incorporates a locking window on its body for use with the new AR-style mag release. CZ confirms that the magazines for the Scorpion 3+ family will be backward compatible with previous Scorpion models, but unmodified legacy magazines will not function with Scorpion 3+ platforms.

The numerous changes emphasize that the Scorpion 3+ is a thoughtful and informed redesign of the EVO 3, rather than a line extension with minor adjustments. CZ is aiming to build on the success of previous Scorpion models’ proven features with these enhancements.
