Browning A5 Sweet Sixteen

The Browning A5 Sweet Sixteen in Shadow Grass Habitat takes full advantage of the rise in 16 gauge ammunition and pairs it with a lightweight chassis to become a monster in the marsh. With a weight of just over 6 pounds, it won't weigh you down. The composite stocks are tough and weather resistant and include textured gripping surfaces for positive grip in all conditions.

In the not-so-distant past if your buddy uttered the phrase, “Sweet Sixteen,” you knew he was talking about a Browning Auto-5 in 16 gauge. Maybe it was the sweet way these guns handled, their light and trim dimensions, or it might have just had something to do with the way the phrase “Sweet Sixteen” rolls off the tongue, but those models developed a devoted following among hunters.

The in-between 16 is known as "The Gentleman's Gauge." To many hunters, the 16 gauge is the ideal ammunition for the perfect gun. A well-designed 16 gauge is closer in weight to a 20 gauge, with a shot payload nearer the 12 gauge, and patterning that bests them both. Like its most revered predecessor, the Browning A5 16 gauge is built on a smaller, lighter receiver for reduced weight and a sleek feel in your hands. It also benefits from the advantages of Total Barrel Dynamics and the Invector-DS choke tube system to extract the most performance from this revered gauge. The humpback receiver profile increases the length of the sighting plane to give you the same advantage the first Auto 5s were famous for. Pick up an A5 Sweet Sixteen and see how sweet it is.

The Browning A5 Sweet Sixteen is well on its way to becoming a modern classic, with a short-recoil operated action that is so reliable Browning backs it with a 5 year/100,000 round guarantee — come hell or high water.

In its simplest term, kinetic energy is the energy of motion. The Browning A5 makes better use of kinetic energy with its powerful, short recoil-operated Kinematic Drive System. Kinematic Drive harnesses recoil energy and converts it into the mechanical motion needed to operate the action. This concept is tried and true, and now perfected by the company that broke ground first with autoloading shotguns. The beauty of Kinematic Drive is the simplicity of design for consistent, reliable function with a wide variety of loads and under the full extremes of weather, temperature, moisture and grime. This gun is designed to work, come hell or high water. Operation is clean because gases are sent out the barrel and away from the action.

Features

  • 100,000 Round Guarantee: We are so confident in the A5, we are standing behind it with a 100,000 round or five-year guarantee that this shotgun will work, come hell or high water.
  • Humpback Acquisition Advantage: The familiar humpback receiver profile melds seamlessly with the rib to extend your sight plane, aiding in natural sight alignment for quicker target acquisition.
  • Kinematic Drive: Kinematic Drive harnesses recoil energy and converts it into the mechanical motion needed to operate the action.
  • Ergo Balanced: The A5 balances perfectly in the hands for an effortless mount and swing. A trim forearm places your front hand closer to the bore line for superior hand-eye coordination and pointability.
  • Inflex Technology: The Inflex recoil pad uses directional deflection to send the comb down and away from the face, reducing felt recoil for greater shooting comfort and allowing faster, more accurate follow-up shots.
  • Speed Load Plus: Patented feeding system sends the first shell loaded into the magazine directly into the chamber.
  • Turnkey Magazine Plug: The patented TurnKey Magazine Plug is easily removed in seconds using a standard door or car key.
  • Ergonomic Bolt Latch: The bolt latch locks the bolt to the rear when the magazine is unloaded and releases a shell from the magazine when the bolt is closed for faster loading. The oversized shape makes the bolt latch easy to locate and operate.
  • Customized Fit: A5 shotguns include one ¼-inch and one ½-inch stock spacer for length of pull adjustment. Drop and cast can be tuned using the included stock shim kit.
  • Nickel Teflon Coating: The bolt, bolt slide, shell carrier, bolt release button and cocking handle of the A5 have a nickel Teflon coating for added corrosion protection, lubricity and makes cleaning easier.
  • Steel Shot Performance: Browning has long been at the forefront of dependable steel shot performance and durability.
  • Total Barrel Dynamics: The concept of Total Barrel Dynamics covers every aspect of the barrel that contributes to overall shotgun performance.
  • Back-Bored Technology: Optimal bore diameter specifications maximize shot velocity and shot pattern performance.
  • Invector-DS: Lengthening forcing cones is a popular and expensive aftermarket practice done to increase shot pattern performance, but comes standard on A5 models.
  • Invector-DS: The Invector-DS system offers the most consistent, reliable tightening of any system ever.
  • ABS Case: The A5 ships in a durable ABS case that is perfect for transportation and storage.
  • Mossy Oak / Realtree: Featured in Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Habitat Camouflage. Also available in Mossy Oak Bottomland and Realtree MAX-7.
