Real Avid Master Gun Workstation

Real Avid Master Gun Workstation

The Real Avid Master Gun Workstation firmly secures most long-guns and carbines while offering smart organization to any bench. Height and width adjustments are quick and precise, and there is on-board storage for cleaners, lubricants, brushes, jags and cleaning rods. MSRP $200 (Photo by Michael Anschuetz)

All-in-one products can earn a bad rap as “jack of all trades, master of none.” Gun tools, especially, can be harshly judged for trying to address too many tasks. Real Avid, however, has been challenging this notion with clever bundles and tool kits that support both hobbyists and gunsmiths. The Armorer’s Master Kits and gun tools are effective tool sets, which are tailored for different levels of service. The Master Workstation is new for 2023, which not only supports a long gun for service, but also adjusts to level and balance the firearm while keeping parts and tools organized with innovative receptacles and magnets.

Certainly, a gun rest or vise can keep everything in place while you work, but small inconveniences can add up to make the process more of a headache than it needs to be. Tools can go missing, the gun could slip from the vice jaws, and parts can scatter.

Generally, gunsmiths and armorers do not keep a messy bench. With Real Avid’s Master Gun Workstation, every detail was designed with a purpose aimed at simplifying and organizing tools for your workspace. Simplification does not mean dumbing down, though. Every function can be adjusted using an intuitive button tab, trigger or knob, all of which are colored red, given a pictogram, conveniently located and oversized for ease of use. For example, Gun Gripper technology was carried over from the brand’s Speed Stand ($50) and used in the front yoke. The flexible support provides the right amount of tension around different contours of barrel and handguard. To change the height of the yoke, press down on the red tab at the base and adjust it as needed.

To secure the stock at the rear, a one-hand adjustable vice tightens as you squeeze it, while foam pads protect against marring.

Modularity is another feature of the Master Gun Workstation. The Smart Accessory System is sold separately, but it can attach to connection points around the middle of the workstation. Accessories include an optional light, magnifying glass, or phone holder that sit on adjustable arms. Similarly, Real Avid’s Master Grade Scope Mounting and Bore Sighting kit is a complement to this workspace. Other tools, such as brushes, jags, bolts and cleaners, can be kept handy within various pockets along the base, and magnets  keep bits, bolts, screws, and washers in place.

Real Avid’s Master Gun Workstation has everything needed to support preventative maintenance and service to a rifle or shotgun. Real Avid has made working on a gun smart and convenient.
