Model AP-MBP 7.65mm Pistol: Hungarian Walther PP Look-Alike

FEG AP-MBP, 7.65mm (.32 ACP), 80%: $300

Question: I inherited this gun, and I’d like to know more about it: It is a Model AP-MBP 7.65mm pistol, Serial No. U2XXX. The slide has “Hungary C.A.I Georgia VT” on it. How old is it, and what is the worth of the gun, if any? After our late Uncle bought it in 2013, we took it to the range to test fire it and run the magazines for reliability. The gun functioned flawlessly and is very accurate. Our Uncle hadn’t fired a pistol since Vietnam yet he put 21 rounds inside of the 10-ring! Any information is appreciated.

Answer: The AP-MBP was a 7.65mm (.32 ACP) commercial version of the 9mm Hungarian PA-63, introduced in 1963 and made by Femaru-Fegyver-és Gépgyártó Részvénytár-saság (FEG). Available for a number of years from the 1970s, and featuring an aluminum-alloy frame, the Walther PP-looking AP-MBP in 80 percent condition, which yours seems to be, is worth in the $275 to $300 range. The initials “CAI” are those of the importer, Century Arms International.
