Review: Walther Q5 Match Steel Frame

Guns & Ammo Editor Eric Poole visited the U.S. Shooting Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to evaluate the popular Walther Q5 Match Steel Frame (SF) Pro for accuracy and reliability. Throughout one bitter-cold day, Poole fired just more than 2,000 rounds through the Q5 Match SF Pro. The test pistol was never cleaned or oiled. From beginning to end, it comfortably produced 1½-inch groups from 25 yards.

The Walther Q5 Match SF Pro features a lightened slide; replaceable (and tacky) wrap-around grip with stipple-like texturing; includes three 17round magazines; and includes an anodized blue flared magwell. The combination of features and weight of the steel-frame pistol work together to make the pistol feel as if it were not moving in the hands while burning down targets. The Walther Q5 Match SF Pro is a certifiable competition-ready race gun built to impress on any range day.
