SureFire Suppressors & Barry Dueck
IPSC Grand Master and nationally ranked 3-Gun shooter Barry Dueck is the vice president of marketing at SureFire. Dueck recounts the development history of suppressor technology since his service as a U.S. Marine and competitor, offering his first-person insight from more than 30-year in the industry leading to the new-for-2026 SOCOM556-RC4.
The RC4 is built entirely using the superalloy Inconel, providing durability against high-temperatures and corrosion. The RC4 also champions the low back pressure technology in current demand by U.S. Special Operations and law enforcement for 5.56mm-chambered rifles with 10.3-inch and longer barrels. RC4 is quieter than most 5.56mm cans, while still demonstrating outstanding flash suppression performance. Guns & Ammo evaluated the RC4 during advanced long-range problem solving with Bryan Morgan and Bennie Cooley at Hat Creek Training in Riggins, Idaho.
Interviewing Barry Dueck is Guns & Ammo Editor-in-Chief Eric R. Poole, former U.S. Marine armorer and designated marksmen who has helmed G&A since 2013 and observed the development and employed SureFire products for more than 25 years.
