For the first time since its introduction in 1958, the Weatherby Mark V has undergone a redesign.
"Our unrelenting pursuit of excellence led us to the development of the New Mark V," said Adam Weatherby, executive vice president and chief operating officer. "The rifle features our new LXX Trigger, a highly refined, ergonomically enhanced stock, a hand-lapped barrel, and a Sub-MOA accuracy guarantee. 2016 ushers in the next era in the legendary life of the rifle that changed shooting forever."
The Mark V stock has been enhanced with a slimmer forearm, along with sharper and more distinctive lines. The diameter of the grip has reduced, and the company has added a slight swell to the grip for the right-hand palm.

Overall, the stock has seen some reduction in weight.
Weatherby's new LXX trigger is designed to increase performance with precision-ground contact surfaces, refined tolerances and a wider trigger face. The new trigger face is intended to provide a more comfortable and consistent trigger pull. The pull itself is adjustable down to a 2.5-pound pull weight.

The new Mark V rifles are guaranteed to shoot a 3-shot group that is less than an inch at 100 yards.
Cartridge
Along with its roll-out of the newly redesigned Mark V rifles, Weatherby has also announced the introduction of the new 6.5-300 Weatherby Magnum, which is billed as the "fastest 6.5mm production cartridge in the world."
"We have taken 'Nothing Shoots Flatter, Hits Harder, Or Is More Accurate' to a whole new level with what is now the fastest production 6.5mm cartridge in the world," Weatherby said. "The speed and energy of this cartridge is unprecedented and worthy of carrying the Weatherby name, all while exhibiting very manageable recoil."
The company plans to offer three load options for the new 6.5-300 Weatherby Magnum. Using Barnes and Swift bullets, the loads will range from a muzzle velocity of 3,395 FPS to 3,531 FPS.
Weatherby will offer the new chambering in the new Mark V rifles, as well as the Accumark, Accumark RC, and Ultra Lightweight rifle series.
Pre-orders for the round are being accepted at Weatherby retailers, and delivery will begin on Jan. 1, 2016.
