Ruger and Tikka Sweep Bolt-Action Category

Top Selling Guns | February 2026

The February edition of GunBroker.com's Top Selling Report presented by GunGenius.com, is a resounding success story for Ruger and Tikka. The two companies have taken all five top spots in the new bolt-action rifle category. Each gun on the list roared to the top, with one jumping up an astonishing 46 spots.

Perhaps even more impressive than two brands holding all the top spots is that it is just one model family from each that’s doing it. For Ruger, it’s the American; for Tikka, it’s the T3x.

Bookending the Rugers on the list are the Tikka T3x Lite in the top spot and the more general category of T3x in the fifth spot. The T3x Lite jumped ten spots from 11 to one; the T3x jumped five spots from 10 to five.

Tikka is part of the SAKO family, a rifle company with Finnish heritage currently owned by Beretta Holding. There have been a number of name and ownership changes over the years, but one thing has remained constant: Tikka makes solid rifles. The T3x series of rifles are built on a legacy of tradition and innovation.

Overall, there are 16 different models in the T3x series, encompassing everything from competition and target rifles to varmint and tactical rifles and just about everything in between. Offered with cold hammer-forged barrels, two-position safeties, single-stage triggers, and fiberglass-reinforced magazines, the T3x series offers something for everyone.

The T3x Lite rifles, which took the top spot in February, offer modular configurability thanks to the synthetic stocks, and with 19 available calibers, the total number of possible configurations for the T3x Lite tops more than 300. Depending on the specific configuration, the Lite lives up to its name with the possibility of having a rifle that weighs just six pounds. Adding to the versatility, the T3x Lite is also available in a left-handed configuration so that southpaw shooters don’t miss out on all the rifle has to offer.

Ruger’s American line of rifles has been around for more than a decade, and it underwent a redesign and facelift a couple years ago that has breathed new life into the line. Generation II rifles were introduced at the end of 2023 and offered new features like a three-position safety, redesigned stock with greater customization, spiral fluting on the barrel, 70-degree bolt throw, and more.

Like the T3x series, the American series has multiple models - six in all. Of those, the Predator and Ranch models made February’s list. Generation II Predator models took the second spot, while the older first gen Predator model took third place. The Ranch model sits in the fourth spot.

The Predator model has a 22” barrel and is available in 19 different calibers. The Ranch model has, predictably, a shorter 16” barrel for easier maneuverability and lighter weight. It can be had in 13 different calibers.

There are countless different bolt-action rifles to choose from in today’s market, and while that might seem like a good problem to have, such variety can lead to decision paralysis. If you happen to find yourself in that same boat, I’d say it’s a fairly safe bet based on current sales trends that if you went with either a Ruger American or a Tikka T3x, you’ll have made a great choice and find yourself in the best of company with thousands of other new bolt-action rifle owners.
