Spyderco Martial Blade Concepts and New Knives at SHOT Show 2018

OSG's Michael Bane sat down with Spyderco's Michael Janich to discuss knives and Martial Blade Concepts (MBC), a form of self-defense training that Janich pioneered.

Janich has been a co-host on Outdoor Channel's The Best Defense since season one, and has been teaching and studying self-defense and martial arts for more than 35 years. Janich has extensive training in multiple martial arts categories, including tae kwon do and Thai boxing. He took his knowledge and created Martial Blade Concepts, a form of self-defense training that combines knife combat with martial arts.

Janich spoke with Bane about the multiple ways people can get involved with Martial Blade Concepts. MBC offers training around the country and a list of certified trainers can be found on their website. MBC also offers specialized online training courses, as well as training DVDs from Janich himself.

Janich showed off a couple of new Spyderco knives as well, including a new trainer knife that has been in the making for six years. Janich showed Bane the Para Military 3, a follow up to the Para Military 2 knife. The Para 3 has a similar design as its predecessor, but it comes with a three-inch blade. This knife is just one of the new products Spyderco showed off at SHOT Show 2018.
