Sierra Bullets have introduced the MatchKing-X (MKX) , a new iteration of the Match King line of bullets intended for hunters. The MatchKing-X offers the long-range accuracy and shot-to-shot consistency of it's namesake, now enhanced with proven terminal performance for reliable results in the field.
Consistently tested on thin-skinned game out to 500 yards, the MatchKing-X is engineered for rapid expansion and terminal performance. Unlike regular MatchKing bullets, the MKX features design enhancements that allow the jacket to open and expand rapidly. A draw-and-trim method creates a significantly thinner jacket mouth, with light skives on the nose of the bullet for controlled expansion. Additionally, the MKX uses a softer lead core than the traditional MatchKing bullet, increasing its effectiveness on game.

For a long time, hunters have sought to harness the unmatched ballistics performance and accuracy of the original MatchKing bullet in the field,” said Sierra Bullets’ Marketing Manager Colby Adamek. “However, because the original MatchKing was not engineered for reliable expansion, we could not recommend it for ethical hunting applications. Today, we’re proud to introduce MatchKing-X – a purpose-built evolution that delivers the legendary accuracy of MatchKing with the terminal performance hunters require.”
While enhanced for terminal performance, MKX bullets are held to the same accuracy standards as their MatchKing counterparts. With identical ogives as the MatchKing, the MKX allows shooters to maintain existing trajectory data and seating depth without adjustments. The MKX bullets also maintain the original MatchKing’s weight and jacket concentricity specifications.
