Rock Island Armory 1911 EFS - First Look

The Rock Island Armory EFS is a California compliant stainless steel 1911 with double diamond checkered wood grips and a snag free dovetail ramp.

Rock Island Armory's new EFS is a stainless steel 1911 and is a California compliant handgun. The pistol features many modern upgrades that people expect on a 1911 nowadays.

The EFS is a ROCK series pistol that features a dovetail cut front sight, a fixed Novak-style rear sight, a skeletonized hammer and trigger. The EFS comes with an ambidextrous safety, as well as a beavertail safety. The EFS has a full-size model and a compact model with a 3.5 inch barrel.

The EFS comes with one standard magazine and is chambered in .45 ACP.

Guns & Ammo Rifles & Optics Editor Tom Beckstrand was on location in Idaho where he pushed the limits of the 5.56 NATO cartridge in this segment of “Long Range Tech” for Guns & Ammo TV. Pairing a SIG Sauer MCX Virtus rifle loaded with Hornady's 73-grain ELD-M ammunition, Beckstrand attempted to ring steel set at 1,270 yards, an incredible distance for any 5.56-chambered rifle and beyond the typical range for an AR-15.
