PATRIOT – In memory of Frank DeSomma, POF-USA

POF-USA President and CEO Frank DeSomma passed away June 19, 2020.

PATRIOT – In memory of Frank DeSomma, POF-USA

Frank was a former aerospace engineer who came to innovate the entire AR platform by redesigning virtually every part within. He founded POF-USA in 2002 and is believed to be the first to manufacture reliable piston-driven ARs. A little more than a decade later, he managed to aggregate many of his clever inventions and redesign the AR-15-sized receiver to shoot larger 7.62/.308-based cartridges. To better understand his brilliance, please watch this detailed video:

DeSomma was known for speaking his mind plainly as a fervent and vocal supporter of Second Amendment rights, even giving his products patriotic themes and names. We would like to extend our heart-felt support to DeSomma’s family, friends and business. He will be mournfully missed by all of us.

Guns & Ammo TV: Shooting 1,270 Yards with the 5.56 NATO

Guns & Ammo Rifles & Optics Editor Tom Beckstrand was on location in Idaho where he pushed the limits of the 5.56 NATO cartridge in this segment of “Long Range Tech” for Guns & Ammo TV. Pairing a SIG Sauer MCX Virtus rifle loaded with Hornady's 73-grain ELD-M ammunition, Beckstrand attempted to ring steel set at 1,270 yards, an incredible distance for any 5.56-chambered rifle and beyond the typical range for an AR-15.
