By Smith & Wesson Press Release
At SHOT Show 2026, Smith & Wesson have announced the release of the new S&W Spec Series R 686 Plus and Spec Series VI M&P9 M2.0 Metal Compact.
Spec Series – Model 686 Plus Introducing the first-ever revolver from the Spec Series line: The Specs Series R. This model perfectly blends classic aesthetics with modern enhancements. Built on the robust Model 686 L-Frame, this 7-shot revolver is chambered in .357 Magnum/.38 Special +P and weighs 42.4 ounces. Its 4.13-inch stainless-steel barrel features a Power-Port™ at the end, reducing felt recoil for quicker target acquisition. Out of the box, it comes equipped with an extended Performance Center cylinder release, an Aimpoint ACRO P-2 Red Dot Reflex Sight mounted on a custom base for an exceptional sight picture, and both a red ramp front sight and adjustable rear sight. The Spec Series R frame features a durable Tungsten-color Cerakote finish that finely contrasts with its black PVD fluted cylinder and traditional checkered wood grips. Additional items included with the purchase are a Savior Equipment pistol bag, a Spec Series R knife, a challenge coin, patch, and 10 compatible moon clips.
Spec Series VI – M&P9 M2.0 Metal Compact The Specs Series VI boasts a feature-rich design that delivers an unparalleled performance package within a compact carry platform. This new M&P pistol, chambered in 9mm Luger, is constructed on a 7075 T-6 aluminum frame, showcases a distinct champagne Cerakote finish, and has a capacity of 15+1. The in-line porting at the 12 o’clock position of its 4-inch barrel efficiently expels gas in intervals, significantly reducing muzzle rise, which allows users to reacquire their target more quickly. At the base of the grip, a Floyds Custom Shop EDC magwell promotes a higher grip for improved control during firing and also facilitates more efficient reloads. For compatibility, the three included 15-round magazines also feature Floyds Custom Shop EDC baseplates. To complete this ultimate concealed carry kit, this pistol includes an Aimpoint ACRO P-2 Red Dot Reflex Sight, which directly mounts to the slide from the factory, a Hunter Constantine Carry Belt designed for all-day comfort and exceptional support, and a Savior Equipment Pistol Bag. Customary to Spec Series models, this bundle also ships with a Spec Series VI knife, a challenge coin, and a patch.
