Improve Shooting Fundamentals With MantisX 10 Elite

Improve Shooting Fundamentals With MantisX 10 Elite

MantisX 10 Elite is a sensor that attaches to the accessory rail or adapter of your handgun, rifle or shotgun. It provides diagnostic feedback of your performance while shooting live fire, dryfire, and can even be used with airsoft replica platforms. Download the app, attach MantisX 10 Elite to host gun, then, by way of Bluetooth connectivity, analyze the results on your smart phone or tablet. $250

Becoming a better shooter takes more than repetitions. Since repetitions will engrain both good and bad techniques, it’s important to ensure your practice sessions are reinforcing proper shooting mechanics. Meet the MantisX 10 Elite.

The MantisX 10 Elite is like having a shooting coach at every practice session, but only better. A coach is not going to sense the nuances of your every trigger press and provide the feedback you need on how to improve. A coach is not going to store data from your practice sessions so that you can track your progress with the touch of a finger. Intrigued? Here’s how the MantisX 10 Elite works.

Reliant on gyroscopic technology, the MantisX 10 Elite measures the movement of your gun during the aiming process, during the trigger press, when the shot breaks, and during recoil and follow through. It then relays that information in real time to your connected device. This information is displayed in four ways.

The MantisX 10 Elite comes in a soft-sided case and, in addition to the gyroscopic sensor unit, includes the requisite accessories for charging and mounting to handguns and long guns.

A list view shows the score and time for each trigger pull, as well as an average score, total time and average time for the entire course of fire. A spider chart and a pair of linear graphs work together to rate each trigger press on a scale of 1 to 100, and illustrate the direction and magnitude of movement throughout the shooting sequence. These functions also identify patterns and offer suggestions for improvement. Finally, a trace animation uses three different colors to depict the movement before (blue), during (yellow) and after (red) each shot.

A separate MantisX Glock holster, $80, also allows the sensor to collect and store data related to your drawstroke. It measures the time from the beep to your grip, the time from your grip to the muzzle rotating to horizontal alignment, and the time from horizontal alignment to when the shot breaks. It will also trace the pattern of each drawstroke so you can analyze efficiency and consistency.

Graphical illustrations and animations are generated with each shot and provide movement analysis before, during and after the trigger press. Each shot is scored, 1 to 100. As patterns are detected, the app will notify the user of possible issues.

To get started, simply attach the MantisX 10 Elite sensor to your firearm’s accessory rail or universal adapter, sold separately. A push of the button on the sensor turns the unit on, as indicated by a flashing green light. Open the MantisX app on your smart device and click “Connect” on the “Train” screen. When MantisX 10 Elite is paired to your smart device, the flashing green light becomes solid. If the sensor does not calibrate automatically, it will instruct you to place the firearm on a still surface for 2 to 3 seconds while it calibrates. In minutes, you’re ready to practice.

The “Introduction Course” will familiarize you with how the system works. From there, you’ll find a number of challenging shooting courses to derive maximum benefit from your the MantisX 10 Elite practice sessions. To learn more, visit mantisx.com.

The heart of the MantisX 10 Elite is a rail-mounted gyroscopic sensor. By Bluetooth, the rechargeable sensor relays its data to the MantisX app.
