With rimfire ammo available once again, the .22LR handgun is popular and booming. Tom Beckstrand heads to Smith & Wesson and meets S&W’s Media Manager Matt Spafford to test the updated Victory line of .22LR pistols. The SW22 Victory is offered in several new configurations that should meet the needs of rimfire enthusiasts at every skill level.
The SW22 is now offered with a threaded barrel, which means that it can be suppressed for a more enjoyable shooting experience. (Gemtech GM-22 .22LR suppressor shown.) However, there are many options to thread on including muzzlebrakes and compensators. To add to the SW22’s versatility, the Performance Center has created models for competition use with options such as a carbon-fiber barrel and Vortex Viper red dot.
Rimfire pistols are fun for any age, and you’ll appreciate their easy takedown when it’s time to take them home. Rimfires are notorious for producing filthy actions, so every Victory models utilizes a single takedown screw for ease of disassembly and cleaning. Perfect for training, the Victory’s modern designs will improve your shooting for little cost.
