Guns & Ammo TV: Hornady Critical Defense Rifle Ammo
There are many reasons to consider an AR-style rifle for home defense. They are generally easier to shoot, and can typically be shot well when compared to pistols. However, rifle ammunition designed for personal defense use have left us wanting. That is set to change. Rifles & Optics Editor Tom Beckstrand discussed this subject with Vice President Jason Hornady of Hornady Manufacturing. To address this gap in the marketplace, a rifle line of Critical Defense ammunition has been developed. The loads are intended for rapid, reliable expansion, but present minimal barrier penetration. They are initially available for rifles and carbines chambered in .223 Remington, .300 Blackout, .30 Carbine and .308 Winchester.
