Richard Nance has been a police officer the past 15 years. His current assignments include Assistant SWAT Team Leader, Firearms Instructor, Patrol Rifle Instructor, Less Lethal Munitions Instructor, Weaponless Defense Instructor, and Impact Weapon Instructor. Richard is a blackbelt in Shudokan Karate under the late Ken Lew.
In 2004, Richard co-founded WARTAC CQC, a company specializing in tactical training for law enforcement personnel. He and co-instructor, David Hallford, have traveled the country training police in their streamlined approach to shooting, defensive tactics, and arresting control techniques.
Richard stars in a line of training DVDs available through Paladin Press and contributes regularly to InterMedia Outdoors magazines such as Handguns, Guns & Ammo, and Shotgun News, as well as Special Interest Publications including WARTAC CQC, Personal Defense, Tactical Operator, Book of the AR-15, Book of the AK-47, Combat Arms, Mossberg catalog, Black Hills Ammunition catalog. Prior to becoming the host of Personal Defense, Richard was the field editor for Guns & Ammo television’s “Police Perspective” segments in 2008 and 2009.
