Micro_T-2_Closed_Rear-1The Federal Bureau of Investigation is equipping its elite teams with Aimpoint Micros.

Specifically, the FBI Hostage Rescue Team and Defensive Systems Unit were authorized to choose between the Aimpoint Micro T-2 and Micro H-2 red dot sights. The HRT chose to equip its agents with the T-2 on Spuhr mounts, while the DSU selected the H-2 as its optic of choice.

The switch came after the Bureau conducted a battery of tests on optics from different manufacturers. After the selection process, the Aimpoint Micro T-2 and H-2 were authorized.

The Micro T-2 features a 1x optic with a 2 MOA dot. The sight itself weighs only three ounces and is compatible with all generations of night vision devices. There are four night-vision-compatible settings along with eight daylight settings.

Micro_H-2-1Though the T-2 is battery-operated, ACET technology allows for a battery life of 50,000 hours of continuous operation. The scope housing itself has a hard-anodized non-reflective finish and is submersible down to 80 feet.

The Aimpoint Micro H-2 features many of the same tough qualities as the T-2, as well as the incredible 50,000-hour battery life, but doesn’t quite measure up to its cousin. The H-2 is submersible down to a depth of 15 feet and weighs 3.3 ounces. Despite not having night vision settings, the H-2 does exceed the T-2 in one respect: It has 12 daylight settings compared to the T-2’s eight.
