First Look: Lancer Systems L7AWM .308 Magazines (UPDATED)

UPDATE 9/4/14: Lancer Systems, manufacturer of popular AR rifles and accessories, announced a new magazine for 7.62x51mm (.308 Win.) rifles back in January 2014, with an expected availability date of late 2014. Those magazines are now available in several color and capacity variations.

The Lancer L7 Advanced Warfighter Magazine — or L7 for short — is a lightweight, polymer 7.62x51mm (.308 Win.) magazine using a dual-steel design, which includes steel feed lips to maximize rigidity and reliability.

The magazine was designed to function in various weapon platforms, such as the SR-25, SIG 716, DPMS 308, LM 308 and several other rifles using the SR-25 magazine pattern.

Similar to Lancer's 5.56x45mm A5 magazines, the .30-caliber L7 also comes in a variety of color options to fit each rifle's looks and objectives. The new L7 mags will come in five-, 10- and 20-round capacities with a handful of color options at the following prices:

Last year the company introduced the Response pistol caliber carbine (PCC), an AR-styled platform designed to run off commonly available semiautomatic pistol magazines. A direct-blowback action powers the Response, but what sets the gun apart is its interchangeable magazine well. Mag wells are easy to swap for owners, and the Response comes with both an M&P mag option, as well as a mag well for Glock-pattern 9mm magazines.
