Carry Jeans: S&S Precision 757 Performance Denim

If AIWB is your preferred method of carry, the pants work well with any aftermarket holster, and you can still take advantage of the discreet features that these jeans provide.

Carry Jeans: S&S Precision 757 Performance Denim

There are times when it is necessary to visit the wrong side of the tracks. When doing so, plan accordingly, and travel with your preferred tools on your person and ensure that they are easily accessible. Avoiding trouble begins by blending in. In the U.S., blue jeans are the most commonly worn trousers, especially after work. While your well-worn denim might be comfortable, there is a better option for concealed carry.

S&S Precision has developed a line of men's jeans that blurs the line between current men's fashion and actual utility: 757 Performance Denim. Some may be quick to dismiss the fashion aspect; however, blending in with the environment doesn't always involve the latest camouflage pattern.

A multi-fit holster is included with each pair of jeans and integrates into the waistband.

From the outside, 757 Performance Denim looks like ordinary jeans with no telltale signs otherwise. A closer inspection reveals several hidden pockets strategically placed to conceal specific items. Within each front slash pocket is an internal pouch designed to keep a smartphone high and to the outside of the leg. The pocket is also useful for holding two double-stack pistol magazines or keeping a clipped pocketknife hidden from view.

Along the rear seam and tucked above each rear pocket are a pair of long slot pockets designed to fit either a 30-round AR magazine or a full-sized pistol — with or without a light attached. The pistol would ride around the 5:30 position for right-handed shooters and is both flat and deep enough to provide a surprising level of security and concealment. Both rear pockets remain useable for items such as a money clip or wallet.

The real genius of these pants is the Internal Belt Retention System. The system allows S&S Precision's removeable inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster to integrate directly into the waistband of the pants by way of an internal retention strap. The strap is designed to reverse hook on one of the openings evenly placed around the waist. This provides the wearer with almost 300 degrees of customization. The holster is constructed of a soft-touch rubber and is designed for standard or canted carry. Wearing a belt isn't necessary.

The construction of the pants is very good, and they are handcrafted in the United States using pre-washed, 12-ounce, 100-percent-cotton, custom-milled denim. All stress points and pocket openings are bar tacked with gold thread, and the cut is full without being baggy.

90-Day Carry

After wearing the 757 Performance Denim jeans for 90 days, the one feature I miss the most when wearing other trousers is the pouch within each front pocket. It works better than advertised, and I've found myself storing a smartphone in the right pocket and a spare magazine in the left. These pouches allow the deeper pocket to be used for keys, spare change, etc., without interfering with a quick magazine change. At times, I used these pockets to conceal a folding knife or small flashlight as well.

I've found the rear pockets useful for more expedient carry, such as quickly concealing a pistol when answering an unknown knock at the door or for a short walk down the street. The rear pockets work equally well for concealing a passport or other sensitive documents when traveling.

I like the idea of the Integrated Belt Retention System and the options it offers. The holster is slimmer than a typical unit due to the lack of external belt loops, and it provides a comfortable way to carry IWB. What the pants are lacking is a true appendix inside the waistband (AIWB) option. If AIWB is your preferred method of carry, the pants work well with any aftermarket holster, and you can still take advantage of the discreet features that these jeans provide.
