Guns and Ammo takes a visit to Iraq to experience what our troops endure while deployed. In this 2008 video, we revisit the experience.
Guns and Ammo writer David Fortier was embedded with the 37th Cavalary out of Georgia. After flying into Kuwait, he proceeded into Iraq and joined the troops near Baghdad.
Fortier remarked on the extreme weather conditions the troops face with daytime temps topping 130 degrees being the norm.
Fortier's goal was to chronicle exactly what U.S. troops were doing in Iraq and whether negative media portrayals were accurate. What he found was a group of young soldiers conducting their business in a professional, efficient manner and making a real difference for Iraqi citizens.
