According to TMZ.com, the man, 56-year-old Jonathan A. Kirby, who has been described as a transient, broke into the home of rapper-turned-actor James Todd Smith, better known as LL Cool J, at about 2 a.m. Wednesday. A former rap superstar, LL is now best known as a member of the NCIS: Los Angeles cast.
LL apparently awoke to the sound of his residential burglary alarm and heard a commotion downstairs. He went downstairs to investigate and confronted the unlucky intruder.
For those unfamiliar with LL, he is a physical specimen — not the kind of guy most would want to mess with. One of his most recognized songs is titled “Mama Said Knock You Out,” and chances are he could.
LL went “hands-on” with Kirby, and as you might have guessed, the encounter didn’t fare too well for the crook. LL detained the subject until police arrived. Although LL was unharmed, Kirby needed treatment for a broken jaw and nose. He’s probably lucky he went to the hospital instead of the morgue.
LL’s rep said, “He is committed to keeping his family safe and is cooperating with authorities.” According to police, LL will not be charged in the incident, but Kirby, a third-strike offender, is being charged with first-degree burglary with a person present and faces a maximum sentence of 38 years to life in prison.
“Just like Muhammad Ali, they called him Cassius
“Watch me bash this beat like a skull…
Good job, LL! I love stories with happy endings.
