G&A correspondent Tim Harmsen got a look at the brand new IWI Tavor at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. With a compact, bullpup design—only 26 1/8 inches overall—the Tavor was developed in conjunction with the Israeli Defense Forces, with the IWI and IDF running repeated tests in the field in order to develop what the IDF would consider an ideal service rifle. For the American market, IWI included QD swivel sockets on the semi-auto Tavor, plus backup iron sights in the rail. The Tavor is ambidextrous and chambered in .223/5.56 NATO, though a 9mm conversion kit will also available, as will a 5.45x39mm conversion kit. The Tavor will be available in March with a price point of $1,999. Check out the video straight from SHOT Show.
