First Look: Colt CR-Pro .308 Rifle

by G&A Online Editors   |  July 20th, 2012 10

This past weekend, we were given a first look at one of Colt‘s brand new offerings for 2013—Colt CR-Pro .308. Built for the competitive shooter or 3-gunner, this new offering from Colt Competition, available in January 2013, comes with the following:

  • 20-inch stainless 1:10 twist heavy barrel
  • Primary Weapons System Brake
  • Colt’s Patented Adjustable Gas System
  • 15-inch full floated modular handguard
  • Billet Upper & Lower Receivers
  • Ergo Grip
  • Geissele Super Semi-Automatic Enhanced (SSA-E) Trigger
  • Magpul Precision Rifle Stock

  • Nitemare182

WHY the gas system? it's unreliable and increases fouling.

    • jukk0u

      for use with a suppressor

  • LostLakeDave

On your bullet list you meant to say "Primary Weapons System Brake".
My teeth chip when people call it a muzzle break!

  • Derek

That new gas system is going to be a game changer for sure. My guess is this will run in the range of 2.5-3k for this rifle.

never thought I would see a Secret of NIMH reference in a gun magazine article, I think I just died a little inside

      ;+)

  • ForneyRider

    What magazine type?

  • mike

they sure are'nt telling you much about it just enough to make you want to know more about it!!! i do hope this is piston driven set up if not they can put it with the rest of colt's junk.

  • Paul

Colt junk? They are one of the premium AR rifles?

  • Anishinabi

People that call Colt junk buy someone else's copy. I have a Colt AR-15 and it is better made than most of what you see from anyone else. My first handgun was a Colt Frontier Scout. I will defy anyone to match it for fit, finish or smoothness of operation. There may be more expensive 1911s but I see more of them jam up on the range or FTF when shooting multi round regimens than my Government model. Especially the earler Kimbers. They are better now that they discovered quality..
