NRA Show 2012: Introducing the Beretta A300 Outlander Shotgun

by G&A Online Editors   |  April 16th, 2012 5

Beretta gave us a look at the brand new Beretta A300 Outlander shotgun at NRA Show 2012 in St. Louis. This 12-gauge semi-auto features a 14-inch length of pull — standard for the average shooter — but can also be adjusted between 13 and 14.5 inches. The A300 Outlander also features a shim kit that allows shooters to adjust the drop 1/8-inch intervals, along with an adjustable cast plate in the stock. Similar in operation to Beretta’s A400 series, the A300 Outlander comes in three variations: the black synthetic model, which will price around $649, and the wood and camo models, which will price around $749. Check out the video straight from the NRA Show!

It's nice to see Beretta making a more economical shotgun .

Having the length of pull adjustment is a nice feature. Could be useful for youth's shotgun as their comfortable LOP would change as they grow older.

At last, an owner adjustable shotgun. I am 5' 8" tall and look average but a 13.25" to a max of 14" length of pull is good for me. Most shotguns are over 14.5" and few shotguns except older Winchester single shot and Ruger Red Label fit me well. I shoot better with a youth gun than most normal length shotguns.
Guns with long stocks tend to come up higher than point of aim for me so I have to make a conscious effort to compensate. I have had to shorten the stocks on all my shotguns for that reason. I am glad that problem has finally been addressed by a manufacturer. People 5'8" tall do not often have the same arm length as people 6'4 tall" .

LOP adjustment is also good for adapting to warm weather vs cold weather clothing. More manufacturers should include adjustable LOP and drop and cast.
